My writers notebook writing about getting woken up by cats.

My thinking questions

I choose this piece to publish because... I like the piece because it has detail. I like it when I said, purrs like a chainsaw that was turned on.

I need to practise... Putting my capital letters in the right place because sometimes I get it wrong. I usually notice and fix it up.
I am pleased about... Getting to choose the piece I want to publish because I am proud of theis piece. It is awesome.

At James's birthday spike, James' cat, woke everyone up because he was hungry. Then I heard the rattle on James's dogs collar. then spike jumped up onto the bottom of the bunk-bed that I was sleeping on and smooched me when I was awake and sitting up and I patted him and then he ran off. Then I got up and had breakfast.

My next step when I use the Get it, Sort it, Use it inquiry process is…find out more stuff about the common wealth games

The fun part of the Get it, Sort it, Use it inquiry process was…having fun making the kahoot
Logan, you used your reading skills to quickly find information to use in your kahoot. You and Jacob and Juven, were able to sort the information into questions (and answers) and then to create a kahoot for the class try out.
Remember when reflecting and thinking about your learning to add more details and go a little deeper, adding a 'because' to your ideas might help. Reflecting about your learning helps you to grow as a learner, to think about what was tricky and to set goals.

kinetic and potential energy

How will we know our movie is successful?
ü   clear camera work (thinking about the sun, keeping the camera still-moving slowly, in focus)
ü   clear voices and image (volume, wind, background noises, mumbling)
ü clear message - might need to explain the images (text to match the words, is the science correct?)

Reflective Prompts:
I now know that: kinetic energy is moving
I enjoyed: videoing and watching the girls because they did a great job at acting.

reading key words

WALT: find the key words in what we are reading to help our

I discovered that key words are not sentences
Most difficult was using wordle at the start

Next step is to find more key words

Thursday, 10 April 2014

WALT: ask questions as we read to make sure we understand what we read.

Remember we can question before we read…
What is this going to be about? What do I already know that will help me understand? what do I want to find out?
We can question as we read…
what does that mean? what is going to happen next? what else do I want to know?
We can question after we read…
does that make sense? what have I learned? have I answered my earlier questions? what else do I want to know?

    • I learned to: Ask more questions to get more information about what I was reading.
    • Most challenging was: Setting up the camera before filming.
    • Next step is to: Get someone to video me in the hot seat so I can answer the questions.
Logan, you can use questioning as a strategy to help you to understand your reading. You can find the answers to your questions in the text and then add more details to fully answer. Your next learning step for reading is to learn to summarise your reading. This will help you to completely understand what you are reading.

You show kotahitanga in all that you do, you are a kind and caring young man and you look out for and help your little buddy, your friends and your classmates. You are a fabulous person to have in Adventure 9 and I look forward to the rest of the year.
